Is AI citing your page?

We put the query to ChatGPT with web search turned on, and to Perplexity, then read the sources each one returned and look for your URL among them. If it is there we record the position it appeared in. It is the same thing you would do by hand, run consistently and kept as a record you can compare against later.

Because both assistants run a live search each time rather than reading a fixed index. The set of pages they pull from moves, and so does the answer they build from it. Treat a single check as a sample, not a verdict — what tells you something is the direction across several checks over a few weeks.

ChatGPT and Perplexity today. Those two expose the sources behind an answer, which is what makes a check verifiable rather than a guess. Assistants that do not show their sources cannot be checked honestly, so we do not claim to.

We suggest queries from the page's title and headings, on the basis that those describe what the page is trying to answer. You can replace them with the questions you actually care about — usually the ones your customers ask before they buy, which are rarely the ones a keyword tool suggests.

Start with the readiness score rather than guessing. It ranks the seven dimensions by how much each one is holding this specific page back, so the first finding is the one worth the most. Not being cited is usually one concrete thing — a buried answer, no evidence, nothing quotable — not a general lack of quality.

Give it a couple of weeks. The page has to be recrawled before an assistant can retrieve the new version, and that is outside anyone's control. Re-checking the day after you republish mostly measures the old page.
